Some Opprotunities in the Space Sector

Supporting innovation through ESA PREPARE 4 Space

From the ESA PREPARE for Space program, we support companies, startups, and research teams in identifying the right opportunities, building strong proposals, and connecting with the European space ecosystem. This autumn, several major initiatives illustrate how Europe is advancing in space innovation, applied research, and talent development.

  • Safran Explore – New Space Safran has launched an open innovation program targeting startups and scaleups with disruptive technologies for the space sector, from new materials to in-orbit services.
  • Big Data from Space 2025 – BIDS Awards The BIDS Awards recognize innovative projects that leverage satellite big data to deliver impact in sustainability, security, climate change, and economic development.
  • ESA SysNova Challenge ESA is calling for proposals to redefine space computing using disruptive paradigms such as artificial intelligence, quantum, photonic, and neuromorphic computing. Selected projects will receive €100,000 for a six-month study.
  • UC3M Microcredential β€œIn-Space Electric Propulsion The Carlos III University of Madrid will run an intensive 16-hour course on electric propulsion, led by Prof. Eduardo Ahedo, from 29 September to 3 October 2025, with 18 Santander scholarships available.
